tuning for premium vs. regular unleaded?
#1
Hey guys, I'm new here, first post to the boards. Have been looking around for a couple weeks picking up some good info, but I had another question that maybe you could help out with.
I'm looking at having blackbear tune my 08 5.3 silverado, and I think it's a 9.9:1 compression ratio. So there would be more gains to be had by tuning for premium fuel vs. regular. But I'm having a hard time deciding if the extra $6-8 for every tank of gas is gonna be worth it, so does anyone have a decent idea how much more horsepower I could expect from the premium vs. the regular tune? Just looking for a ballpark. My only experience with tuning was on a Procharged mustang I sold before buying this silverado. And the silverado is stock, I may swap the muffler out and wheels and tires are on the way, but other than that, no huge modification plans. Thanks everybody, looking forward to learning a lot here.

Some other guys can help with HP guessing, I suck at it. BUT, if you had a procharged stang and were familiar with working and tuning it...imagine what would happen if you took 5 degrees of spark from it.
WELCOME to pt.net btw!!!
