Truck NuBee with some Qs....

Im looking to buy a work truck (the WT model) Nothing fancy, but Im curious about the 4.8 vs the 5.3. Ive read somewhere that the 5.3 has like 10 HP over the 4.8 but the 5.3 has ~30 lb. ft. more TQ. I will be pulling around a 2000-2500 lb 5x8 trailor. Will the 5.3 benifit me more for the money? The reason Im asking is because there is a NICE truck at the dealer but it has the 4.8. I have a 4.3 ZR2 S10 that Im looking to trade because the 6 is puny and the 4.8 isnt much bigger ltr wise. It will be a 4x4 also ;)

Any insite?

Both motors have the same bore but the 5.3 has a longer stroke (same as the LS1). So your comparison could be compared to a big bore LS1 vs a stroker. Both have big cubes, make roughly the same power, but the stroker has more power in the torque curve (the big bore should have the benefit of faster revving). So even though both truck motors have about the same peak HP, the 5.3 will be the better choice for towing. But the 4.8 isn't shabby and is a much better option than a V6.

The 4.8 will be a little sluggish in a 4x4 truck, but it will prolly be better than the S-10. If it came down to it, you could always drop a 6 in it or something like that.
