Tranny should not need to be removed and if you paying more that $150 to $200 you need to go elsewhere.

I just did one about a month ago and the tranny stays in the truck. Just drop the pan, remove valve body and follow the directions. It is not a hard install but a messy and time consuming one. Good luck.

I've installed three 4L60-E HD2 kits and one 4L80-E kit. The 60 kit is straight-forward and can be handled by the average mechanically inclined person. It can be 95% done with the transmission still in the truck. The other 5% s the internal stuff. The internal parts are optional - even indicates so in the instructions. It can be a dirty job, especially if you don't find ATF delicious, but it's just busy work, nothing extremely difficult. The instructions are not all that great so it helps to have an ATSG Techtran manual to help identify parts - especialy if you've never been inside a trans before.

For the prices you guys are getting quoted I'm starting to wonder why I don't do this professionally on the side. $150 is fair but $400? That's insane.
