Tranmission Dilema...

The mechanic my dad uses finally took a look at my truck and told me dad that my converter is what burnt my transmission up. He told him that converters arent made for trucks, they are made for camaros and firebirds (his words). My dad wants to let this guy rebuild my transmission and put my stock converter back in. I however want to get with someone a little more reputable.. thinking about www.teamtrip.com.. I would really like to go FLP but there is no way my dad is going to pay that much.. If this guy thinks that converters are bad for trucks then he isnt going to warranty it when i start doing more mods because he doesnt back his product like FLP.. What would you do? Also i talked to a guy at team tripp and he said that it would be two weeks before he could ship out. Anyone have any suggestions of a reputable trans builder besides flp and teamtrip? I may just let my dads mechanic do it.. but i have a gut feeling it isnt going to work out how i want it..

I was in the same situation awhile back and I went with Jag. I think just alot of off the line power combined with the heavy excab weight killed your transmission, and the converter helped you make that power. I'd get a built 4l65e from Jag or Team Tripp, maybe work out a payment plan with your dad or something?? Performance converters are ok for trucks if thats what they're designed for... some are even made with stock towing capacity in mind. Get your dad to take a look at Yank's website if he doesn't beleive you, they have alot of info on it. Good luck man, it sucks blowing your trans I know how you feel. :(

Tell your Dad if it has to be fixed, it should be done right the first time. It may cost a bit more now, but its much cheaper in the long run.
