buy a pacesetter Y pipe for ~100 bux and be done. that 5.3 does not need dual 3" exhaust. single 3" is fine. single 4" for a highly modded 5.3

Not sure what your asking...so ill put it like this.

I built the engine for this car, it made 448hp on a single 3" exhaust pipe. The muffler is at the very rear of the car under truck, its dual out. 3" single is plenty for a 5.3

I had to cut 1/4" off last time and probably have to cut an inch off this time. You think the pacesetter y will still work? And does it dounut on the end of y or is it weld on?

the weld is ugly, but not 1" ugly...cut the collector as closely as possible and the y should slip over. single 3" is PLENTY for a 5.3 IMO.

get the pacesetter Y, and do not use the clamps that they provide. Mr. Gasket has some straps that work better and allow you to pull the exhaust apart one day. the pacesetter clamps crimp the exhaus tto where you will have to cut it off if you ever need to remove the transmission.
