Is there a reason I shouldn't buy a SLP 402 shortblock?

I am starting to save for a 402CI + motor for my Silvy and I want to know why I shouldn't buy a shortblock from SLP performance. They use Eagle rotating assemblies along with NEW 6.0L blocks. I thought I saw a thread a year back or so as to why not to buy a SLP crate motor but with the search I cannot seem to find it.

I would like to know the same thing since i NEED a new motor..

Yeah for whatever reason it was deleted from LS1tech. Appearently the guy who had the problem with his SLP engine got some kind of deal worked out with either SLP or whoever he bought it from.

I think its pretty crappy that they allowed it to be deleted after they say nothing will be deleted from those sections. :eyes:

I'd still be afraid of using an SLP engine after that thread.

Does anyone recall what happened to the guys engine? Being the thread was deleted would explain why I cannot find it. As with any engine, it's always better off building it yourself. Maybe I should just start saving up parts and put the thing together over the winter while my truck is in storage.

I would build the motor if you have the tools and knowledge, much more satisfaction out of doing it yourself:judge:

why not use a new GM block.... or just bore and stoke one? Last time i looked the SLP block was $4500. You can go a LONG with other parts.

Forget that shit, get the 408 from Texas Speed. These guys are GREAT to deal with, and will talk to you all day before you even spend a dime. They also have the aluminum block 402's. SLP thinks their shit doesn't stink, and as you know, everybodies shit stinks.
