I know you guys are going to rape me on this one, just for the recorded I have used the search function. I just want to know what you guys think about the tsp 220/220 cam? I am interested in it and just you guys opinion. Would it be a good cam for me, or should I go with something like a 212/218? (Mods are in signature) I noticed a bunch of people that were using the 212/218 went bigger. I will get the necessary stall needed for whatever cam I do get.

great cam . . pulls hard throught all rpm . . a good stall is a must. . pretty good wideband.

I don't see how you could have come up empty searching. I searched for "tsp 220" and had 10 billion results my first try.

Anyhow, you better run bigger than a 2500 stall like it says in your signature. Why not just run the tried and true tr220 and an ss3600 converter combo?

The 220 224 cams work great in basicly stock 5.3's. Anything bigger is a waist if you are running the truck intake as they are only good to about 6300 rpm's. A bigger cam will want to spin higher than this with no gains in power. A 3000 to 3600 stall will work fine with either cam or you can go bigger if you wanted to. The fastest NA 5.3's out there are running the 220 or 224 cams. Bigger isn't always better when it comes to cam size.

fully agree on what you said look at bluecajan he's ruunin a 220/551 and NA he's runnin 12.40s

A TSP220 or TR220 will work well in a cam only 5.3 with a 3000-3200 converter. Personally, if you run a 3600 converter chances are you're wanting to go faster and make more power than a 220 cam is designed for.

Keep in mind that when y'all reference Cajun's set up that he went through lots of test and tunes through different parts to get his combo dialed in just right. That meaning that you're not going to automatically run what he did because you went shopping based off his signature list.

get the tsp cam with a 112 degree lsa and 4 degrees of advance ground in.

I think the biggest reason why these truck engines dont respond well to be bigger cams is the low compression ratio. Anything over 220 degrees duration isnt going to have very much dcr, which affects low end torque. Running a narrow lsa and advancing the cam increases dcr.

Just curious, what is a good cam to run with a 2500 stall? Just accessing all my options.
