I have decided to bite the bullet, and spend some $$$ on a nice truck. Some bastard stole my fullsize Dodge 1500 Ram SLT 4X4, and my car is in serious need of being trailered now.
So whats the scoop on these trucks. Are they worth the $42K that the dealer is asking? How loose are the dealerships on that price? Will this thing tow an enclosed trailer with about 4500lbs of Camaro, ATV, Tools, and other race day stuff?
I already have a Camaro SS, a Monte SS (not worthy of being called an SS!!) and now I want to complete the trifecta. Should I?? Or should I just get a 2500HD, and put $5k in my pocket, and have 4 doors?
Test drive today, mull it over til monday. I love the truck. But damn Chevy is proud of them with that sticker price!!!!!

If you were looking for a truck that was more of a work truck, hauling, towing, tools, etc. I would get the HD.
If you were looking for a sport truck, handling, speed, etc. I would get a single cab short bed 5.3L truck and lower it and add mods.
I dunno, the SS seems a little pricey, I couldnt tell you if it worth it or not because I've never driven one.
But if you're looking a sport truck, get the one I mentioned for about i guess 18k-20k and use the extra 20k for a supercharger and alot of other things
I guess its really up to you, see how you like it.

why dont you get that car running first
, you going to the track tonight? if you are i might just go to watch.
i dont know what the SS are actualy going for but i am prety sure you can get an ext cab HD prety loaded up for under 30k. in my oponion the HD has more to offer performance wise if your going to mod the hell out of the thing. doesn't sound like that is your plan though.

screw that slow as SS truck, to me, not even close to being worth all that money for a basically stock 6.0 motor. we just dynoed a week old duramax 3.4 ton truck with allison 5 speed auto. talk about a real tow rig!
ask mark about the dyno (it made over 730 rwtq bone stock with a computer programer)! this truck will walk any stock SS and with a programer, kick more ***. oh yea, and 21 mpg at 7000 lbs and towing at 90 mph all day
i just cant belive the money they are asking for that truck.

i was in the same delima, and decided to get the hd. i got a 2003 2500 hd ls for 27,000, so you could pocket 15k if you got the hd over the ss. i sat in the ss and was in love, but i wouldnt love that payment!

I walked out of the dealer paying a little over $30K for my SS after incentives and discounts. I paid invoice before any rebates.
I love my SS. I'm so glad I don't have an HD or DMAX. The SS is more than just a truck.

It wouldn't be hard to get an SS for 34 to 36g but it depends on how extensive you option it. I've been quite happy with my HD my only complaint the alloys don't suit the truck well they look like space savers spare wheels compared to the body. Dodge out did chevy with that, they have thoes fat spoked chrome 18 or 19" wheels on them factory. I wanted RWD which detured me from the SS, but i'm probley gonna put on an SS grill and front rear bumpers on next spring if I don't trade it for a new GTO or SS.

I came, I saw, I drove, I passed. I dont need another "hot rod". I can barely afford the $$$$ in mods I have to my Camaro.
Ah, I have no idea what the hell I'm going to get. My wife wants me to get the new 2004 Avalanche thingie.

dad just paid 33,700 before taxes on his 03 leather duramax/allison tranny (that alone is like a 5K in options), onstar, extended cab, swb GMC. hard to pass that up with the rebates and stuff. sticker was 41K.
