If you don't really care if your lifters are dying. why even take it to the dealer to be checked out? Or why even ask us about it?
Just let it die.

Default wow yall had a lot of options!!

so its lifters makin this noise?? if adding oil is the cheap fix, how much is the costly fix and what all needs to be done?

Listen, it's common for Chevy's to have the tapping noise. Something to be concerned about, of course.

What do I think it could be, the lifters. Is the dealership being lazy, yes. I know this b/c I basically had to call a higher up @ GM to come look at my truck. So for a whole month I was telling the dealership idiots lifters and they disagreed. The GM Man told them it was the lifters. I got lucky. I had the GM and Ext'd Warrenty.

So by process of elimination and to keep it relatively cheap for now...try the oil. Are you running low? Syn or Real Oil?

well. You have to pull the heads off to change the lifters. So your gonna need all the replacement gaskets and time.
But while your that far in, you might as well pick up a cam.

How bad is it? I only notice an occsional light ticking which I think has been explained as the lifter rollers interacting with the cam lobes.
