Stoich AFR
 

Hey, I've been messin with my HP Tuners today and it says my (stoich) AFR is 14.68111. lol, thats rich right? I could smell it running rich and my new exhaust pipe is black as night. Should of bought some ceramic coated headers...oh well. Any suggestions to what I should do? I'll go do some searching, thanks for any help.

Unless you have a wideband you won't know what AFR your truck is running. The number in EDIT and HPTuners is used in calculating something that I have no idea about. :D I have tried changing the stoich value in EDIT and it didn't do anything that I could tell, maybe it works in open loop.

Anyway, that number is not the actual AFR that your truck is running at. 14.7 is actually not lean or rich at part throttles. If you are running around 14.7 at part throttle/idle your fueling is good. :)

At WOT that would be a little lean though. :eek2: Best to shoot for ~13:1 at WOT measured at full load(like on the street) with a wideband sensor.

My understanding is that 'stoich' means exactly 14.7, neither rich nor lean, but the correct vicinity for cruising or idling speed.

now there are ways to go and adjust your a/f ratio correct? i really need to lean this thing out some.
