Stock Muffler Performance?

How well does a stock muffler on the 03-06 V8 Silverados flow? Although it seems pretty big, the pipes themselves are also pretty big. Is it very restrictive?

im gonna take a shot in the dark and still say they dont flow nearly as well as an aftermarket but im sure thats kinda already a given

In my head i imagine it like a gun suppressor, bullets goes thru, but sound is suppressed.

I have tried a few different mufflers (Flowmaster, Super Turbo, etc) and didn't notice any difference in performance or mileage. I didn't do any dyno testing but I sure couldn't tell a difference in any catagory but noise output.

You would LOL if you cut the skin off of a stock muffler. I'll see if I can get a decent picture of one I have at my shop.

The thing is that I want to keep my stock muffler cause its my DD and the rumble gets annoying after a while.

There is a 2006 RCSB 5.3 around here that's got a 228/231 cam, LS1 heads, Long tubes, ORY, and 4.56s. It's def. a dyno queen but it still made 363hp with the stock muffler.

Well, you asked if a stock muffler was restrictive...if you saw how they were built inside you would laugh out loud because you could see they are very restricted.
That is all :chug:
