As of yet there is no standalone system. But, it could be made to work with the right parts and ECM.

Yeah, I didn't think there was yet. I'm going to have difficulty adapting my 205 transfercase to it anyway.

There are several companies working on standalone units. When I was working on my swap last summer most of them expected to have their products ready for SEMA that obviously didn't happen.

This should work with the E-38 ECM? all we have to do is harnes mods, and computer reporgraming.

And can tell me witch companies, i would like to do a fallow up and see where they stand on the project.

The companies I contacted were working on a completely standalone controller. No inputs from the ECM required; meaning you could put it in pretty much any car computer controlled or not. If you want to put one in your E38 equipped vehicle it is certainly possible because the TCM is internal to the transmission. That is what I did. There are a few items that no longer function but I am OK with that. My PRND321 display doesn't show my selected gear but I don't need that doesn't keep me from finding Drive. The companies are not sponsors but I can PM them to you if you wish.

The current gear indicator is driven from the black box on the side of the tranny. I didn't swap it over to the 6L80E because there are no bosses to mount it easily. Based on conversations with John I don't think CAN was utilized until 07. Maybe he can elaborate further.
