some turbo daily driver questions

so I have a 2003 ext cab z71 that has 155k on the clock.. nothing major done to it now just headers cai and magnaflow exhaust.. and the truck needs some attention.. so in like 13 months it will be mine and I have not decided if I will keep it or get something a bit newer.. maybe like an 08 or so... but I have been going over and over the idea of putting a turbo kit on it.. I know ill have to do electric fans im sure that's not a hard swap.. im not looking to make tons of horsepower 450 or so im sure can be easily done with a turbo.. I think it would be a fun daily

with between 450 and 500 hp would I need to upgrade the fuel system?
im hooked on this boost crap now I have gone for a ride in my buddys 2011 with a p1 on it and 6.2l and its just nasty fun..
I see a lot of good progess with the on3 turbos im thinking maybe a 70mm for a daily?? I would be buying parts here and there not all at once its what my budget allowes... ive talked to some guys on facebook that use speedless engineering forward turbo headers from ebay.. truck has 706 heads I have got a set of 317s if needed but would the 706s work with some ls9 gaskets arp studs? I don't know much about the 706 heads

ill help and say the 317 heads will be a little big and drop the compression to much. best off if you can find some 243/799 heads as they flow the same but have a smaller chamber(still bigger then the 706).

for that much power i would think just a good intake pump upgrade would work. like a single walbro 255 and some properly sized injectors.

i would do the 05+ e-fan conversion as you get a bigger rad also and its more or less drop in with a tune.

you can get one of those turbo kits from Trick or KB Racing.

in all honestly i would just go with a tvs 1900 on top and call it good as it would probably be easier to take care of in the long run.

also dont forget some heaver valve springs too as stock might not be enough once over 8 psi

thanks for the idea on the tvs 1900 and im sure it would be less work and easy.. supercharger whine is cool but I like the whistle of that turbo and more or less its really what I want...

I also think I will send kbracing a pm an see what he can do for me

I think this is what I needed to hear as well. I have been contemplating getting the on3 performance turbo kit and a 70 76 mm turbo for a DD pushing 450-550 hp. But i want to be able to set it and forget it. Looks like I may end up going tvs1900 route instead.

OP good luck with your decision.

I am still researching and giving a lot of thought.. and I also have to save money as well still need a lot more funds to go lol and I have thought about even selling my fbody to do this but dunno

I haven't seen very many reviews of the on3 turbo kit and the price is what drew me to it (my son is my #1 priority) but with a s/c route you can do more stages I believe. LT headers, cam, stall. Injectors, fuel pump etc..

I am still unsure if I want to do my motor build or my sound system first. It's my only vehicle so kinda hard to do alot for a motor build at the moment.

well I traded the ol blue turd in on a 2014 double cab 2wd and man im sure giving a lot of thought towards the tvs 1900... maybe headers along with it a nice boost cam
