Default simple lq4 questions...I think

Sorry, I'm new to the engine, so I've got questions for days but we'll start with two easy problems. I'm putting this is my Monte Carlo SS, its out of a 2003 Cadillac escelade. So I've got the 6.0 and I'm looking to see two things, First off what will fit as far as exhaust manifolds? I've heard great things about the truck manifolds, but what about the ls1 or ls2 manifolds? Second, I am looking for a cam to wake it up just a little bit, something where I only have to change the cam, not everyhting else, somebody said that you can put the ls6 cam into it, but I wanted to make sure before I started buying more parts. Thansk a million guys

It's actually the LQ9 you have, 10.1:1 compression. This is good.

The LS6 cam will definitely work if you are on a budget. But there are much better cam choices out there.

How do you tell if its an lq4 or lq9? I know it came out of the 03 Escalade an dI've got to figure out how to mount that pedal as well, the gas pedal w/ the sensor, any suggestions with that as well. So what cam would you recommend, yes this is a budget build but i want to keep everything else stock for now, just upgrade a cam, thanks guys

lq9 will have flat top pistons. put a screwdriver in the spark plug hole and feel for a dip, if no dip its an lq9.

yes the Eascalades only used the LQ9.

Just remeber that the LS4 5.3 that was in your Monte SS is shorter by 13 mm than the normal 4.8,5.3 and 6.0. Even the LS4's crank is shorter, plus it uses the flattened water pump.

Not sure if you will have any clearance issues or not.

Nevermind, I just read you are doing a RWD SS. I have LS4 onthe brain as I'm helping with a LS4 swap.
