Default Should I do HEADERS or STALL the truck 1st?

I have a street tuned vortec max engine in my suv. I dont want to dig into this engine as it runs so well, I already have a CAI which it is tuned for as well as the 20" wheel diameter. TQ mangement was removed, timing tweaked, and AFR dialed in, and street tuned by Alvin @ PCM4less. Truck hauls major ***, he said it himself. IMO all it has is a AIRAID on it with 93 octane street tune. 5.3 stall converter.

I am planing longtubes soon, but I know I will have to get a retune or should, so I was thinking about a 3-3200 stall converter, as it would make the truck faster. Without touching the engine just yet. Would the higher stall require a retune as well? I do not tow, plan for future will be a 217/226 cam, with long tube headers, offroad Y.

What would show most gains, LT headers or 3200 stall converter. I can only do either or right now. Again I have a 04 VMAX engine, street tuned by PCM4less. Truck hauls ***. Personally, I do not think it would need a retune with the LTs, but Im not sure. I would like to do more mods, like a cam swap to get a full dyno tune. But I dont think its worth a full dyno tune with just boltons, and not changing the camshaft.

You'll be quicker with the stall. You'll make more power with the headers.
Both will need a retune as you will have to change the lockup paramaters for the stall.

Converter and retune. You'll notice a bigger gain than headers and retune.

just what I was wanting to know... reasons being that my stock manifolds have 1-2 broken bolts. So headers would require me to take care of that problem, which could be more of a pain in the **** than anything else.

Im sure if I do the 3200 stall, I can get Alvin to tweak this current tune for me. And then I would prob be done with this truck, honest to god, I dont even need to do anything to it, but wanting that extra edge. I think the stall/retune may do the trick. Especially as you said it will produce a bigger gain vs the headers. And I love the quietness of the beast right now as well.

I put headers on before my stall and really felt a big SOTP improvement untuned.

But If you have an SUV i would def. do a converter to get it moving. So yes converter and retune.

STALL for seat of the pants feeling. makes you feel happier when you stomp it. probably better 1/4 mile times too! I giggled like a lil bitch first time i stomped it with 3000 stall and tune.

Headers. WOT sotp gains will feel about the same between the two, but headers will retain stock driving characteristics. Depending on the characteristics of your stall, it can get annoying to daily drive really fast.
