S&B intake

I have an s&b intake on my truck. I have a 4" PVC tube from the box to to throttle body, and connected with a 4inch silicone coupler. I have the tube wrapped in heat tape, and a different kind of heat wrap...

My question is... I've looked at a bunch of different intakes and they are all open towards the headlight. My s&b box is open on the bottom, and towards the fender, so it's more or less sealed off to the engine compartment heat.

Do you think it would be beneficial to cut the front of the box out towards the headlight to get additional air/ram air type of function? Or just leave it how it is because that's the way is was originally designed for a reason.

Thanks. Mods in sig.

Anybody? Going to clean my air filter Saturday and while the box is out I was gonna do a little cutting on it if it's worth while.

My old thread.. But would taking the clear inspection lid off be anymore beneficial or more prone to heat soak via filter being open to the engine compartment?

taking the clear lid off will raise IATs quite a bit... I left mine off a while back and didn't even realize it, I was logging my truck and noticed IAT were pretty high and couldn't think of why given the cool outside air temps and I figured I'd check it out and that was the culprit.

That's the answer I was looking for! Appricate it.
