That looks like my "100k mile" LY6. Except I had rusted shut valves, a nut in the intake and metal in the oil filter. Let's not forget the cracked oil pan.

it really amazes me how every ******* 6.0 for sale is "low miles, no leaks no smoke"

tear it down and you're looking into a dark abyss of money.

Im still real excited to see that 333 hit 8500+

I always purchase engines with the intent to rebuild so I always get the ones that were suckin hind teet just because it doesnt matter that much.
Our rebuild kits are pretty dang cheap, so it helps ALOT in that category.

More pics and updates? You got it!!
A little bit more on the cleanup. Block is done. Cam bearings installed and just installed the oil/freeze plugs and billet barbell. Waiting on crank polish.

Also THIS IS WHY YOU DONT LOOK AT YOUR CAM BEARINGS!!! They'll be bad. Of course, this one came out as a bonus on teardown. Like i said, most of the parts wont be reused, so the super clean cam gear will get filed away maybe or if anyone needs it, its up for grabs ;-). The oil pump was toast, pics of it later. The thrust plate...well if you dont know by now why i dont reuse them or why I recommend torrington bearings on timing sets, this should tell you.
Block will get deep cleaned om bores, deck, lifter bores, and mains soon also to take care of anything left after machining. Always remember a clean hole is a good hole folks.
Enjoy the update (from IG because i am still having issues with posting pics)

More updates on the 372.
Block is done. Deep cleaning to commence.
Gaskets at the ready. 1218s swapped on our 243/799 heads. Rods are cleaned and will be touched up in a jiffy. Crank is nearing completion also.
Going pretty quickly...or at least the pics make it seem so lol.
Enjoy!!

Another update...kinda..wellot a complete update...but an update ;-) Got 2 sets of rods n back from the machine shop.
Turned a set of gen3 4.8 and 5.3 rods into floating pin! I had em anyway so why not right? I actually may put arp rod bolts in both....my machine shop wants to see exactly what happens to the big end when that happens. So, since these are honed to spec, i will likely get the reg and pro2000 rod bolts and have em checked out! Will report back.
For those keeping score the weight diff is ~1%
*no nudes from before sorry*

As far as the rest...i DID get 2 alum 5.3 blocks. One will be turned into the 5.1l and the other will be turned into the long stroke 360.

I will have the iron block for the iron 5.7 soon.

The 372 sold actually before i could get any data about it...which is good...and bad of course.
The engines are for sale...BUT i would like to get to test them first lol.
Cam lobes are nearly done.
333 update - waiting on me really. Crank balanced and rods/pistons ready. It will be waiting on cam lobes of course. I will be using some 243 as cast heads on it BUT maybe cut the rocker bosses off to kinda "cheat" just a little. Also installing our LEADFOOT 2.055/1.60 valves, some serious Manley .650 beehives, ti retainers, better lifters, manton 11/32 pushrods and the holley sniper low rise intake with 102mm tb. Short runners and lots of plenum area for max rpm status. Still very budget but adding the best quality parts for the money there. the 5.1l may likely get similar treatment but not as severe.
Hoping for 7500ish rpm out of it.

Shiney objects!!
Got a pic and some info for the ti beehive spring retainers we will be using as part of our new high rpm cam setups. These will go in the 333, 5.1l, and the all bore 346 if i can manage to get that one pulled off this year.
Left to right
Stock steel beehive 11-12g
Trick titanium beehive retainer 5g
Tsp dual retainer 10-11g

The trick wont work with all beehives but will work with most due to some beehives having a larger top ID and OD. These will be used in conjunction with our LEADFOOT 2.055/1.60 valves and Manley 221438 Nextek Superfinished beehive spring.
Hoping for 7800ish rpms.

I personally like the beehive vs the duals for better upper rpm control and significantly less noise. A friend of mine ran the Manley springs with a comp 772 ti retianer (8g) on an engine before and i have been looking for an opportunity to use them again!

Yes, as a kit, they are more expensive than duals, but well worth the benefits imho.

Check out my haul!
Ive got a 5.3l and a 6.0 to work with.

I think i may change gears and do a 5.3l build up to the iron 5.7 also.

First ill use dished 5.3s. Then flat tops then bore to ls1 size. Same ca., same heads, same crank, same rods, and see what i can do.

Thoughts?

The 6.0 is getting the 372 treatment so i can slow down on this one and get it dynod and all info.

Oh...yeah...i forgot.
Switched rollers. So all the engines will be tested in this...with stock 10bolt and unknown gears. Welded diff lol.
Im looking at maybe a saginaw direct drive or something like that. Will put basically all the power through it for minimal loss. Plus its only $800. I dont think ill ever race it just need to drive a little to put on trailer and maybe around the block in case i want to take it to a show or get some drivability on the computer etc just for fun.

I need project name though. Tetanus is already taken 900 times. And mullet. But how about REO TestWagon? Maybe CantMaro?
Throw out some ideas.

Bmr ls swap k member soon. Remote radiator and other stuff soon also. Who needs windows anyway right? All parts are there and ive owned it for quite a while just never done anything with it. Plus its less likely to throw a drive shaft vs my truck project on the dyno.
