Recomend me an intake manifold
I have searhed far and wide and seen every answer imaginable. I recently switched to a FAST lsxrt with a Nick Williams 102mm throttle body. I have messed around and done EVERYTHING in my power to make it run right and I can not get the idle quality I desire from it. With the factory manifold, TB, and tuning the truck runs great. Mods are as follows.
Stock LM7 Bottom End TSP 224/228R cam PRC Stage 2.5 head work (Decked .030 for mild bump in compression) CAI, Longtubes, Off Road Y pipe, Singe 3" flowmaster Basic Basic setup Should I go to what I know works and be happy or is there a better alternative. I have read the truck intake leaves things to be desired. Thank you |
For a 5.3 with that cam I don't think there is any need for a 102. I would run an 87mm (2007+ or tbss LS2) truck intake hands down. You'll make the most power under the curve. You may give up a little right at the very top of your rev range... but its nothing you'll miss for what you'll gain under the curve and in drivability.

Fast intake and 102mm TB are way overkill for that setup anyway in my eyes.
Swap to a NNBS/TBSS intake as they flow better than the NBS intakes and call it a day. |
The more I learn Im certain youre both right about being too much. Got too caught up in the "OMG its a FAST intake" stuff you read online all day.

Also. What throttle body to run with that. My truck is cable driven. I thought all the nnbs were Drive by wire. Thanks again

Nearly $1,500 for both if bought new for minimal gains over cheaper intakes is the main reason I'd never recommend one or use one.

it didnt matter what I did with my old lsxrt intake i could never get it to seal right and had a hell of a time getting it to idle right.
I ran a tbss intake before the lsxrt and it ran great for alot less money tbss/nnbs with a 87mm will be all you need |

I have fought this thing on and off since last october and I am sick and tired of it. So TBSS intake it is. Now to decide on a Cable driven throttle body. If any one has suggestions in any direction with any being better than other I am all ears. Thanks a million |
Tbss intake are Penny's ,them fast intake ridiculous priced for like 15hp or so. When a tbss intake gain round bout 10hp but run better. The fast it for trucks, i read everyone was having problem with them sealing. Sell the fast for a tbss and be done!
