i bought my intake used and its time to do some cleaning. how can i determine if its an oiled filter or not?

 

Oiled-filter.

 

if it is oily and reddish...it's probably an oiled filter.

 

ya but its so dirty i cant tell if its oiled or not. is there no markings on it or anything?

 

If it's the original filter that came with the Volant, it should be oiled. Also, I believe that the oiled filters have a metal mesh around the cotton element. If you search some of my old posts, I have side to side pics of the original Volant filter next to an Amsoil dry filter.
