Question about my combo
hello all, I’m looking for opinions regarding my setup on my truck it is a 2000 Chevy Silverado z71, and seems to be a dog down low, before 3k. from a redlight, it’s not bad but however I took it to the track this past Friday and ended up very disappointed. I’m wondering what I need to change on my combo, if anything, to make the truck faster. I think the biggest area of improvement for it is pulling through the converter faster from a launch, whether it is an idle launch or brake stall launch. It seems to hang at 2800
rpm before pulling through. Probably a .5-1.5 “hang”. Truck has a 3200 stall converter, so I’m not sure if it is too tight or needs more gear or tune modification. Best 1/4 time was 16.25 at 88
Current combo
BTR low lift cam (224/230) .500 @.050
FTI street Brawler 3200 stall converted
3.73 gear on 31.50 Street tires
Shorty headers to Catless y pipe to single in single out black widow.

I would maybe start by looking over the tune. Even though you don’t really have the best combo it should be faster then that. I would think low to mid 14s. Also those shorty headers aren’t helping at all and the converter isn’t big enough for that cam.

I would do something smaller for sure. With your tires, the 3.73 isn't helping a lot. Their not terrible but a 4.10 or 4.30 would be better.

If you can post your tune maybe someone could take a look. Also I'd look into some LT's I notice little to no difference between stock manifolds and your run of the mill shorties LT's will be going in mine shortly I'm never below 4200 after first anyhow if the pedals to the floor.
I have a similar setup as you.

Post up a good scan to go with it. The whole combo is off, too much cam for a 5.3 with a 3200 tall, 3.73 and tall tires. Is this a Standard or ex cab? None the less your MPH is low also. That cam will make power but its going to be a turd off the line with anything less than a 3600 stall and 4.10 gears in a 5.3

Also check the fuel psi should be 58psi you may also be maxing out them injectors.
I have a very similar setup I have issues keeping it from spinning in a ECSB 5.3 z71. Even at 3500ft above sea level my truck runs alright for a pig.

Truck is an extended cab. Weighed 5500 with me in it at the track. I'm going to attach a couple of logs, they show my injector Duty Cycle high, and it appears I have a lean condition at WOT. Going to Change out fuel pump tomorrow; nonetheless, I have a mismatched combo. Both of these logs reflect the "dead"spot at about 2800 or so. What do you guys recommend doing? 4.10, or a 212/218 cam? Could possibly use this cam for my upcoming 6.0 project I suppose.

16.39 Air Fuel @ 6000 RPM is scary lean. I'm new to tuning but I'd bump up the Power Enrichment tables starting around the 3200 RPM mark and up. You're at 1.17 I'd try 1.20 from 3200 and up to get more fuel in at higher RPM. Also lower the TPS threshold in the hot and cold settings so It will allow PE activation with less throttle position. Then tweak as necessary.
