Is a predator MY best choice?

What i'm looking to get out of a tune are a couple things, recalibrating my speedometer, firmer shifting and better peformance. I drive my tuck every day and would like to keep it reliable. When winter comes around i will need to recalibrate my speedo for the smaller tires. Truck is stock and I dont plan on taking it to the track more than a few times. From reading all the posts i believe that a nelson tune is the best, but for me im thinking i'll be happy with the predator. Also are predator's locked to one vehicle. Thanks in advance!!

If all you can afford right now its a handheld programmer, go with a used used Hypertech. I would never consider the Predator. After you are ready for a custom tune you can sell your Hypertech and get your money back. The Predator is locked to your truck's vin # and does not have any resale value.

Don't get a Predator!!!!!!!! Once you buy and program your truck, you're stuck with it. It VIN locks to your truck and can't be used on any other truck, I know, I had one. As Tiburon said, get a used HPP, you can get one off of ebay for about $200-$225. It gives a decent jump in performance, lets you raise the shift points (real good option) and let's you calibrate for other tires (like you want). I never tried the tire thing when I had the Predator but I've heard it doesn't work real well. I did use when I had an HPP and it was easy and worked like a champ. For the money of a used HPP, you can't go wrong in my opinion.

I paid $500 for my Westers tune and I think Nelson seems to be more performance oriented and $100 cheaper. I paid $340 for my Hypertech and it was nothing compared to the PCM. Id put out a little more now and get the better mod. I only got $100 for my hypertech.
