Default youve got to be kidding me...

So I just bought a 2010 silverado crew cab with a 4.8. This is my second truck ive ever owned since my 1988 gmc ext. cab 1500. I just cant tell you how disappointed i am with the performance. Im sure the truck i have now has more power than the 350 that was in the early stages of efi, but when i drove that old truck i could tear the tires off without a problem AND it seemed to have accelerated just as fast if not faster. being this new truck has an ls based engine and much newer technology, is there anything i can really do to add horsepower without spending HOURS and a pile to do mods? any help would be great. thanks...

The older motors had gobs of torque down low. The4.8 on the other hand is a rev happy little guy. Best mods are a custom tune ($300) and a performance big body muffler ($100). You can add real world 30hp/tq with just those mods.

I was going to say 'no' lol. Takes time and money to make power.

Your 2010 4.8 truck has torque management that your old 350 didn't have. Plus it's a lot smaller cubes. A good tune will wake it up some, a nice torque converter will help it hit its power band sooner & pull harder. The right cam will add torque across the board, even with the small cubes.

Do your research, and pull the trigger. There are quite a few 4.8's doing really well on these boards.

In a 2010 crew cab with a 4.8, I think you'll need a power adder and supporting mods to run 12's. Gears are always good. What size tire are you running?

You should fill out your sig, so we know what you're working with.

stock 17's and factory sized tires...theres no way to be faster with bigger rims and larger tires...what can i expect from lt's, stall, tune, 4.10's, and cam? and prolly a 5/7 drop.
