My engine started pinging about 1 month ago. I thought it was the gas since I was using only 87 octane. After about 3 fill ups with premium 93, I still hear the pinging at light accel. Now with the sound deadning I installed, its even more noticeable. Its really getting to me. Anything I can to help this situation? Oh btw, my 01 did the same thing.

Fuel pressure at idle is right at 50psi and with the reference pulled(same as WOT) it hits 59psi. I just checked mine again today on a mechanical guage with the new regulator.

I just tuned a truck and 01SS that had the same problem, the only mods were a filter/lid and Volant. I noticed they were running lean just from those mods. fixed the fuel problem and no pinging occured.
get some logs on your sensors and see whats happening.
good luck,

Alright, I just came from the dealer and they told it was corbone buildup. They told me they could decarbonise it by pulling the plugs out and sticking some substance in there, put the plugs back in there and start it up and let it smoke for a while. I decided not to let them do this. Tha idea does not really wave my flag. Anything els I can do on my own to get rid of this without the ls1 edit?
