Painting headers worth it?
Just got a set of pacesetter lt's the cheapest ones
New , should I sand n paint w quality stuff ? Can I sand em or use paint remover and just leave em be w no paint up. Anyone done this. Thx for the help |
I think you will find the paint, even high temp stuff, will burn off pretty quickly. You could get them Jet Hot coated if you really wanted, but that might cost more than the headers themselves.

Yeah so I've heard. What about just leavin em naked after sanding. They turn out good but nvr seen em after usage. If u know
|
I think they would rust very very fast!
|
It mainly depends on the surface prep. It won't last forever, but you can make it last longer.
If you sandblast the headers and then wipe them down with a solvent it would be ideal. Do not touch them with bare hands. Sandpaper wont cut it either. |
Thx coban. To bad I don't have access to a sandblaster. Just finished sanding em w paper n dremel. Could be worse I guess Then rustOleum. High heat.

BBQ paint.

I have the same LT's bro and i sanded them down completely and primered them and used some high temp paint, after a few cycles the truck started smoking up but after they get that "greyish" color to them. There holding up on me for now. good.luck bro

I would wet sand them, wipe them down with mineral spirits or some thinner, 2 light coats of primer and a black paint. Corrosion loves sanded metal unprotected. Humid at CC Tx. is no joke too! :)

Hahah yeah I'm in cuyahoga falls Ohio now for school. (even worse)
Thanks guys I'll try that |
