Oxygen Sensor Problems

Is anyone having trouble with oxygen sensors going bad. Aparently my driver side oxygen sensor keeps going out and I can't figure out why, other than maybe my EGT's being too low. Now my truck hesitates, surges and has a little back fire when under an extreme load traveling down the road.
