Default Oil pump failure causes metal strands??

Hey guys! Last week or so i started to see my oil pressure get lower and lower. Started at 35-30psi at idle hot and dropped to 20 at any rpm range except idle would fall to zero. Pump had 300 miles at this time.

Its a chevy performance oil pump so warranties are easy. Manual gauges verified loss of oil pressure.

Dropped the pan and pulled the timing cover again and i saw a lot of strands (very thin metal not bearing oil pump had gouges and nics in it). Also had a thin amount of light grey metal (from new cam bearings and cam and lifters and everything im assuming).

The strands is what concerns me. Other than oil pressure lose, no noise or issues at all! Ran 100% and strong and no noise at any rpms.

Should i worry or just toss another pump in her, run reg oil in her for 5-10 min then drain ans change filter twice then be good??
