The VIN doesn't matter when it comes down to it running or not. The VIN only matters if you have some sort of inspection system that needs the dash VIN to match the computer VIN.

The biggest issues you have is the security system and everything else inside the computer. If thing like rear gear ratio is different between the two, rear tire size or like he said there with it being a 2wd or 4wd truck. Those things will cause problems.

If someone is local or you know someone that can do it, you could have them unlock the computer, change any information around that needs to be done with disable VATS, tires/gear etc etc

So what if you bought a 03 engine with a drive by wire but wanted to convert to cable. Could you just swap tb and use a 99 to 02 harness. The engine is a lm7 out of a 2003 silverado. I want to do a swap on my 99 silverado that has a v6 currently .

Sure, you could use a 99-02 harness and computer and then swap to a cable TB.

Just found an 2002 harness for my V6 to LQ9 swap. The harness didn't come with the positive and negative battery cables. Can I use the V6 battery cables?

Be sure to route them correctly across front of oil pan and under power steering bracket.

Thanks, yes the plastic loom under the timing cover.

I should have been more specific... the V6 positive battery cable (2SX761A) is 76" length whereas the V8's cable (2SX781A) is 78" in length. Is there a problem with the shorter two inch V6 cable reaching the starters solenoid lug?

The V8 "battery junction (red) box" bracket. Did anyone use the V6 bracket or do I need to hit the salvage yard? If so I may as well grab the correct V8 battery cables?

I know the alternator's lead wire to the red junction box is longer on the V6. I've found a shorter V8 lead, so I won't have to bunch up the longer V6 lead.

I do not remember what I did, it was two years ago. Hardest part is finding them that have not been cut.

I have an 05 RCSB with the 4.3 and NV3500. Im looking to swap a 5.3 and t56 in. My main question has to do with the shifter placement if I were to center load the T56. Does anyone have any information pertaining to that or have a link they could direct me to?
