No oil on dipstick

Oil level light come on the other day, I checked the dipstick many times and each time it would show up no oil. It's done it before and then it eventually started reading. I'm gonna try it again tomorrow. What could cause that? I'm stumped.

Add 2 qts now.

I added a tad more than 1/2 a quart and the light went off and the oil pressure went up to normal. I was scared to add more than that without being able to check it.

Did you ever get the updated PCV valve? Might have to add a catch can to gather up the oil.

If the oil is not showing up on the dipstick then it is at least 2 qts. low. I don't understand why you won't add until it is within the safe region. Running with oil not showing up on the dipstick will kill your engine quick.

Maybe that's the plan .. then he will have an excuse to finish that motor he's been talking about. ;)

I'm with these guys though ... get some oil in that thing!

are you sure the dipstck tube isnt loose coming up when you go to check it? hopefully its something simple.

2 qts. low, don't ask me how I know. :secret2: :drive: ;)

Do like these guys said and add the rest of the 2 qts, at least put the rest of the 1/2 qt. in there until you can check it on the stick.

Do you check your oil on a regular basis? I don't there could be something wrong with the dip stick unless it's actually not going into the oil pan. If there's no oil on the dip stick, then the oil level in the oil pan IS TO LOW, listen to these guys and put some oil in the engine before you ruin it!!!
