Hmmm... removed silencer and now it's louder. . . . Sounds (no pun intended) about right.

although this seems like a lot of effort for nothing.

well guys atleast he tried something for himself and learned along the way!! Isnt that what the site is for anyways?? He also didnt mention anything about it gaining power just noisier. I actually cut the baffles off my cousins tube, but used pieces of the baffles to cover the holes i made. Worked great for a free mod, for a guy that didnt have money to spend on a intake.

WTF?
Wow, I just sprayed Pepsi out my nose all over my 22" lcd! I think I pissed myself too.

That is the funniest thing I've read in a while.

Instead of buying an air raid intake tube I removed the baffles and made basically the same thing for free. I have read threads at gm full size about pvc intakes, so I decided to turn my tube into one for free.

I have never seen that website, nor anyone complete a modification like this. An air raid kit sells for over 100. The money you spend on this kit makes you basically no gains. I cannot feel any difference in power, however at idle it does sound almost like the smog pump at start up. For free this is any easy thing to do, but dont expect much for gains. My camera is causing the computer to freeze (script error). Here http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138764 goes a home made tube from pvc pipe- however you must have e-fans.
From this link the 08 intake tube is slightly different, but the silencer sticking up at the top of the picture (second one down) is the one you remove and replace with a paint cap. http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116743
