Default Need help bad, Tranny not working.

Well tonight my tranny **** on me again. The problem started by a check engine light then followed a tranny fluid hot light. The truck was fine until I shimmed my stall as recommended by Precision Industries. Now the truck will not even go into gear. Every gear is like netural now. The code that came up was 1870 which acording to my hanes manual it is tranny slipping code. The stall and transgo shift kit was installed a week ago and worked fine until I shimmed the stall today. I have tried to take the shimms out and it did not make a difference, it still will not go into gear. any ideas? what can I do? can the stall be messed up? Also can I put a 4l80 on a 4.8?

When you shimmed the install, tell us exactly what you did.

Can you feel it go into gear? Can you hear any strange noises when it goes into gear?

I used 2 washers per bolt between the converter and the fly wheel. Specs stated the stall had to be 1/16-1/8 of an inch from the fly wheel. There where no noises and it seem to work fine for about 10 miles then started going out. Now when I put the truck in gear the rpms go up a tad but the truck will not move. It doesn't even feel like I put it in gear and there are no noises that I can hear.

I agree too on the pump issue, sometimes things are best left alone. If it was working fine you should have never shimed it. Maybe you have a recourse from the converter manufacture as you followed their advice.

Looks like another 4.8 with a 4L80 candidate

Yup ... front pump. Sounds like you toasted the clutches cause the pump wasn't pumping. Bummer dood.

It is not the trannies fault. Stick the converter is to far in a 80 and the same can happen. Besides goes from a 60 to a 80 and go from a 3.09 first gear to a 2.48 first gear which will make a very noticable difference in launch (slower)
