Default NBS to NNBS intake results (99-02 guys)

Well, a couple months ago I hit the dyno after putting in a custom cam, ported heads, headers, ect and produced 334rwhp @ 5500 /341rwtq @ 4900.

Bought a NNBS intake, FAST 92mm TB, and 3.5" cold air setup (didn't go 4 since MAF is 3.5 anyway) with custom fuel lines, and other fun stuff to waste money on while you do this slight PITA intake swap.

Results-

338rwhp @ 5650 /344rwtq @ 4800.

A complete waste of time and money IMO.

If you already have the NBS intake and are thinking about swapping to the NNBS intake, don't bother. There is NO point to spend 700 dollars (including the retune) to make 4 extra ponies.

Just posting up so others don't waste their time.
I was optimistic at first, especially since I had a restriction at WOT (couldn't go past 92kpa) and now I can hit 100kpa, and even had to add 8% more fuel yet the gain was pathetic. Im pretty pissed about it, even more so after seeing all this 20+rwhp bullshit I see everywhere.

i did the swap and noticed a big difference i think the reason your not seeing more is cause you only pulled it to 5600 if you were in the 6k plus Rpm range i bet you would notice a 10 to 15 rwhp gain thats just my 2 cents

pulled to 6500. Just reporting where it made the numbers at. Falls off after 6,400.

I have no idea how people are making 400rwhp with these trucks. Either this particular engine is worn the hell out (and with 200K on the clock, thats reasonable) or the 11.5 rearend, 4L80E transmission and heavy drivetrain and 33"s REALLY soak up the power.

I know the heads are great because I've used them on several F-body cars and made great power, usually 430-480rwhp (depending on cams, headers, intake, ect) so thats not the issue. Yes, the cam is kinda small because its a truck, but 226/232 is a fair size for a truck. Im sure if I slapped a 240/246 on a 112 it would pick up the power, but it would also be worthless as a truck. I think... I will stop modding it, or de-mod it to increase gas mileage.

332cfm @ .650, 318cfm @ .600 (this cam only lifts to .601 so really, were talking about 318cfm which is more than enough for a 600hp N/A setup with the right intake/cam/headers. 1.5hp per cid with a LS is easy territory, which is why im baffled about this damn truck. Im thinking about pulling the engine and putting it on a engine dyno just to see what the engine itself makes to rule out trans/converter issues.

Im going to pull it anyway for the higher stall converter (and fix the rear main seal leak) so it might not be the worst idea.

Thank you for this! If you barely got any gains out of a 6.0, I bet I would lose power with my 5.3L. I bet it would be beneficial with power adders.

What did it do in the lower rpms?
