My thoughts exactly. Tossing an air filter in the corner of the engine bay is in no way a cold air intake.

You may want to try wrapping the intake tube with fiberglass header wrap. It really helps bring down the IAT's from heatsoaking off the fans

I believe they sell the wrap at AutoZone now for like 20 bux a roll.

What's the elbow from and what size is it? I think I may need to order one of those "cobra head" elbows for mine. Don't think a reg. elbow will fit with the fan shroud.

@AKlow aka 11 second forum monitor, if you notice it says the 3.5" pipe is exhaust pipe, not the elbow. But I appreciate your attempt at thinking you cleared that up for me.
