i just started my truck and i have no oil pressure!! so i killed it and then cranked it again thinking it was in the computer, but still no oil pressure! so i killed it and then i went to crank it just to move it out of my buddys way and park it until i found out the problem when i did i heard some tapping so i killed it for good. what went bad. ever since the head cam swap it has ran fine and has had fine oil pressure. are these oil pumps bad about going out after only 35k miles? anyones opinion is appreciated cuz i need to know what i need to start looking for to troubleshoot.

I had the same thing happen to me after a oil change at 20,000 miles. I had wrecker take it to a dealer and it turned out to be a bad oil pump. Didn't have any motor damage. It was replaced under warranty.. That was back when i had a warranty..lol

I heard that they had more problems with the 01 and older ones but the newer ones are still the same design. Happened to me about a year and a half ago so I decided it was time to put a cam in.

SLP makes a remanufactured oil pump for the LS1 type engines and should be compatable with the engines in the trucks, the pump is brand new off GM shelf, You can jet one from summit racing if you'd like.
