LY5/LMG w/799 build

so i am the proud owner of a 2012 LT w/ an LMG, which as of right now is bone stock. my original plan was to do full bolt ons (long tubes, kn etc) and a 212/218 @114 LSA w/stock stall and call it a day. upon learning about the pretty substantial motor tear down that is a DOD delete im having second thoughts. since the heads have to come off have much head work can i do to my 799's? will cleaning up the ports and milling it down to maybe a 10.5 CR make a substantial difference with the cam? which intake manifold is worth getting after all of that is done?

The intake you have is a favorite of many. I would venture to guess there isn't much left to be done to those 243s if your cam is stock. The milling will help but then you will need new pushrods. Believe me a mild cam like the 212/218 is your best bet and the Dod delete is worth it.

yeah i figured that was the case. i guess a better way to sum up my questions is: what else can/should i do since the heads are coming off? since the motor is just over a year old i want to do as much as i can to warrent my top end rebuild. i forgot to mention that i will be doing a head stud conversion and all of that jazz.

Wow you are going all out. I wouldn't do studs unless you plan on boost or tons of spray in the future. Sounds like you are doing it right so that's good.

the right way is the only way i do things.

head studs is a little overkill, but to each his own! id just do arp bolts and call it a day!
