as far as i'm aware it should be a direct bolt in once you changed the pin.

Your talking about the threaded pin in the end of the cam right? What would I do, put the pin in from the cam from my stock cam?

The L31 cam specs are 192/197 duration at 0.050" of lift and .414"/.429" of lift on a 111 LSA
The 95-97 LT1 cam has 201/208 duration at 0.050" of lift and .447/.459" of lift on a 111 LSA.
1996 LT4 stock cam 203/210 duration at 0.050" lift and .476/.480" of lift with 1.6:1 rockers on a 115.
The LT4 makes peak power at 5800 rpm(330 hp) ya right, more like 360-370, the LT4 has a fuel shut off of 6412 rpm stock.

Just make sure the pin on the LT1 cam sticks out the same distance the L31 cam does.

it will drop right in.

I plan to put a hotcam in my L31 218/228 duration at 0.050 and 0.525"/0.525" lift with 1.6 rockers.

How does your friends car work??? How is the idle??

the biggest advantage to using the LT1 cam in an L31 is that you'll be able to do it with the stock springs.

Man the Lt1 car sounds GREAT. It lopes really hard for what Ive heard about it. Most guys on LS1tech said it is a waste, but when we dug into the motor, we found out that it had 1.6 RR's. This motor was "bone stock." I think the RR's help it alot. Oh by the way will I see any power differences? Also will it sound like it did in the LT1 car?

Thats weird, I thought the only engines that got the RR's were the LT4 engines.

i would suggest that you dont use the stock L31 springs, they are crap. You can runthem, but if they have any miles on them, I would replace them.

I am going to try a set of CompCams 918 springs with teh Hotcam in my L31. The 918's are beehive springs with retainers that use a 1.8" installed height that will allow for 0.550" of lift on stock L31 heads with ZERO machining. the smaller retainers are quite a bit lighter thanteh full diameter L31 retainers also.
