Mileage isnt gonna differ much from a 6.0 or a 5.3 for that matter..
My ls1 gets 17+mpg at 70mph which is better than the st0ock 5.3...

What did you do to the LS1 and what vehicle is it in?

I have a lifted nbs ecsb and was looking to do a head and cam package on my 5.3 but I may get hooked up on a LS1 that's why I ask. I don't really want to sacrafice too much in mpg because the hp doesn't make that big a differance to me it would just be cool that's all. I use my truck as a daily work truck an haul stuff every once in a while.

I guess ishould state my purpose and such. So I currently have a 5.3L with 150K on it. It has a 6" lift with 4.56s in the rear moving 35" tires. I use my truck for work hauling ac units off of commercial buildings and such and every once in a while pull a boat or other things. I'm looking to build a motor on the side so that when I do need a motor I have one to put in an there are no surprises. Since I'm gunna be building it on the side I figured I could put a little extra power to it but not go crazy cause I need it for my daily and with gas prices I don't want to dip into the single digits. I don't mind maybe poising 1 or maybe 2 mpg but I'm pretty low down there already so it is at a premium now. I get 12 city and 15 highway. If I could keep that or do better I would be super stoked. I live in Cali so all this also has to be smog legal so unfortunatly no LTs which sucks.

So that's my story and want to know what you guys think? Mod the 5.3 or see if a ls1 will work better?
