There are a lot of very good threads on the 80E on here. Are you looking out of state for engines at all? I had a 400-pound load shipped from out of state for $92 before, so it could be worth your while if you find a deal and you can ship it home for less than a couple hundred dollars.

I like the aluminum block engines better also, weight is not much but I can feel the reduced weight in the ride going down the road. The smaller LS1 is capable of making 450 to the wheels NA.

I agree with Avalanche. Especially if you plan on staying all-motor. That ls1 will have no problem making big power at the wheels with supporting mods. Plus, as you said, there's a certain cool factor with having an ls1 in the truck.

I'd say go witht he 6.0... theres a reason they end up in some F bodies. The bigger 4" bore will open up a few doors too as far as performance if you plan to build it on the wild side. The added displacement will more than make up for the added weight of the iron block. Plus you're starting the engine build by stuffing almost 1k in your pocket... you'd be surprised what kind of goodies you can get for 1k when youre patient.

All of y'all have good points...the sites I been looking at ar l k q and partshotline.com..the main reason for ls1 is because mooned has one a truck around here at lease that I know of.but for a lq4 I rather just buy a re man at a part store there only 1995..the more o think bout it
