Default LQ4 build

I have a 2006 LQ4 that i want to put in my 2003 4x4 Yukon which currently has a 5.3 flex fuel motor. Want to keep everything naturally aspirated no turbos, no supercharges, just n/a. Its not my daily but it does tow a small trailer every other weekend. Currentt setup includes a rebuilt 4l60E with a circle D converter and 3.73 gears. Heads are 317 and i would like a bump up in compression. I was given a pair of felpro1160L041 & 1160R041 head gaskets that may help in the quest for more compression. I also have a Brian Tooley stage 3 truck cam on the shelf and new lifters. Am after more torque, more power on a budget what are your suggestions?

You already have the parts, just slap it together and make it run though that cam is pretty large depending on your converter size.

Not really much more to it than that. You can do headers if you want and of course a custom tune to round it all out.

One thing though, consider larger injectors. Even those flex fuel 5.3 injectors may not give you enough head room with a cammed 6.0.

What are the cam specs for us lazy ppl?

Look into 243s for a compression bump on the cheap

cam specs are 218/224 .553/.553 113+3
converter circle D...GM 278mm HP 4L60 LS Torque Converter 3000-3200
Can the 317 heads be a keeper if they are milled with those head gaskets? Or waste of time and just go to the 243 milled?

I wouldn't mill the 243. Adds cost for machining, and pushrods. Not sure why you can't use those gaskets, but I'm also too lazy to look them up.

For most things, nothing beats the OEM "LS9" gaskets. I used them in the top of my 408 that may or may not someday make 700+

Using a thinner gasket wont get you near the cr that a flat top will.
We have a complete flat top conversion kit for $420 that is drop in with no balancing required. Comes with new rings too. Cant really go wrong there. if you dont need any gaskets or bolts the pistons and rings are $320 for the set with rings.

Our mls gaskets can handle boost also.
