These guys are right. I'm running LS3's on my stroked 6.0. They are direct replacement. I thought 823's were ls3 heads which come from the factory with 68.5cc chambers. And I thought the L92's were 72cc chambers. I could be wrong though. Sounds like a fun combo, GL.

I'm 73.99% sure the combustion chambers are the same size but I'm 90% sure I've been wrong before.

i was reading on ls1tech how the 823s were the best flowing of the 3 or so different types of l92 heads, thats why i got them.

do you guys know if i use the lq4 head gaskets, ls9 gaskets or the l92 gaskets???

I know the LS3 and L92 have different cc chambers. I just don't know exactly what the L92's have. I just looked at my heads and they are 823's, so you have the factory LS3's. The head gaskets all depend on what compression ratio you're looking for and quench.

i thought all the oem gaskets quench to .51 well at least the ones im choosing between, i just wanted to make sure buying the wrong gasket would hinder something...like if the hasket bores were different, but now that i think about it, its all a 4 inch bore anyways.

Not here to split hairs cus i believe its actually a 4.062 bore, i was generalizing and wondering which gasket i should run, but then realized it really doesnt matter as long as the thickness remains the same.

Quench is NOT the same as gasket thickness

Now for my question, what needs to be done to run these heads, ill be running a small cam 224/230 .581 .588 112, the truck is a weekend driver and id like to be able to drive it to the track on pump gas if at all possible. now if i just bolt the heads up, im under the impression i can run 7.4 pushrods and ill have 10:1 compression, and shouldnt have a PTV issue. to my understanding it wont run the greatest on motor but on spray it should run really well which is fine by me.

What do you guys think, does this sound ok, and what octane gas should i run.

Also what are you alls opinions on how i should go about this, should i get the heads milled, different push rods etc etc. Opinions welcomed, dont be afraid to break stuff down like a 5 year old is on the other side of the screen either hahaha. Thanks gents. If it matters ill be running a 90mm TB and no less than a 200 shot.
I had close the same setup, but mine was a 224/230 581 591-110

makes lots of racket and sounds great, but it's still the slow bus . . .

I have the Torquer V2 now, so I'm even slower
