Looking for real world experience with btr stage 2 truck cam

Dyno numbers or just how it feels. Looking to stay with a stock convertor for money reasons. Truck isn't a dd as I have a Company truck.

2004 sierra 5.3 2wd rcsb, long tubes with off road y, 3.42 gears and 22" wheels (truck is a turd with these heavy wheels). I do tow a little bit throughout the year.

I just installed the BTR Stage 3 cam, truck picked up 51hp at peak.pulls great especially up top http://www.gm-efi.com/tech/btr-bumpstick-wake-call-blue-magic-finds-groove/

You will probably want to install 3.73 or 4.10 gears. I have a stall convertor already and I am doing gears soon.

The Stage II looks very similar to the Comp Cam 112/118 high lift.

Stg. 3 right here still needs a retune but you can definitely feel the kick above 3k. It has really good street manners Imho but I'm in a heavy cc so tc is gonna be a must

to the guys that have used the BTR stage 3 cam, did you guys use your stock pushrods? i saw that it said you are able to use the stock pushrods

What do you mean?

Blwn99x 02-06-2015 09:40 AM

I reused stock pushrods and I also have a stall convertor(3200). I would recommend a stall with the stage 2 also but you could go lower like 2500. However it's not required.my truck is a RCSB as you can see in the article.

I have what supposedly was a BTR cam for my 427 yet on a forum liljohn flat out said I speced your cam and more digging found out all cams are from LJMS

Vortec350ss 02-06-2015 03:27 PM

Interesting... I always assumed that he resold the tooley cams.

Tooley is a head guy liljohn used to be the broom pusher for Tooley then served as his underling and since they left TEA and rest is history

love my trick flow cam! lol my buddy has a tahoe with same exact mods as me only difference is hes not cammed, raced em and pulled 3-4 length on him, also does great for a daily,
the reason im asking is because i have a 1976 c10 shortbed that i am completly working on from the chasis up and i am going to do a 5.3 swap with 4l60e, already got the engine so now im looking for a cam for the c10, i could do the trick flow again bt since this wont be a daily im looking for something a bit more agressive

You can afford more than a BTR truck cam then

wish i could man, had the truck for 6 months now, it wont be the prettiest or have the most expensive parts, bt im trying to do as much as i can while keeping costs low still in college, so thats also another thing that holds me back a bit, basically planing on doing the cam, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, and a stall. just want it to be a fun weekend truck

LJMS did the turbo cams, I did most of the others, I also collaborated with Martin at Tick on one of our LS3 cams. Please get the facts before you spread false rumors George. Thanks.

To the OP, i have this cam in my truck so its an apples to oranges comparison.
I do like the cam a lot. Idles exactly like stock.

My 4.8 with btr stage 3 made 335 hp to wheels with headers etc and a little over 300 torque at 6400 rpms it's a stick shift tho

Fast_six oh 03-17-2015 10:48 PM

Curious as well on the stage 2, especially on a 6.0
