Default Longtubes and new true duals are done.

Thursday night we installed my LPP Longtubes on the truck. I used GM manifold bolts and factory steel gaskets. I was at the exhaust shop first thing Friday morning when they opened. I had them run 2.5 inch true duals back to a dual in dual out 14" case Magnaflow with the built in X pipe and dump it. I found out when I got there that a friend of mine was working there so he welded everything and he did a badass job.

There are no slip fits or bolt together joints anywhere. It is all fully welded. They ran the duals on both sides of the trans so that it can be dropped without having to touch the exhaust. They ran duals the same way on another local truck and he said when they went to pull his trans it was a breeze. He said after it was all unbolted it came straight down without touching anything.

They welded a 3" to 2.5" reducer to the headers and ran everything from there. I love the Magnaflow though. It has little resonance while cruising but when you go WOT it sounds mean as hell. Ive already had tons of people ask why my truck sounds like and F Body or a Corvette lol. The guys at the exhaust shop said that if I ever needed the reducer separated from the headers to bring it by and they would do it for free and not damage the headers.

They guaranteed everything and told me if at anytime I wasnt happy to bring it back and they'd take care of it. They even told me that when I need a wideband bung welded in they would do it for free. Some of that is a buddy deal but they also know that I do and will continue to send them business. Overall I couldnt be happier with the quality of work and the sound. Ill get some good pics later, the only ones I have now are from my iPhone.

Sounds like a great setup, minus the welding pipe to the header's....I would never weld to manifolds or headers but I guess maybe thats just me.
Lets see some pics of this!!!

Sounds good, but why in theee hell would you weld the pipes to the headers?? What if you need to get into the trans, or pull the headers off for something, you going to have and cut the pipes...

They welded a 3" to 2.5" reducer to the headers and welded the pipes from there as a butt joint to the reducer. If I need to remove the headers I can simply cut through the weld at the end of the collector and never have to cut through a pipe. The way the duals are ran I can take the trans out and never have to touch the exhaust for anything. I know some dont like welding to headers but the way theyve done it it can easily be undone and cleaned up without damaging the headers.

I just installed my LPPs friday night, so far its just back to the y-pipe. gotta take it to the exhaust shop monday to get everything hooked up to my mufflers. we're running a pretty similar setup, except im using the LPP 3" y-pipe and dual 14" magnaflows with an x-pipe a bit up stream in the exhaust. Im going to have the shop cut the merge on the y-pipe apart and run it to my duals. Should sound pretty sick when its all done.

I'll get some pics later. Right now I'm swamped doing customers projects and helping a friend with his race car.
