For no more than they cost, no reason not to.

You would have to post a year for us to tell you. It really doesn't matter though. The original LS1 Style was used in 99-04. The LS2 style was used in 05-07 classic.

The LS2 and LS1 Style well retro fit each other on the Iron Gen 3 the 99-07 classic . The LS2 is supposed to be a stronger design but cost twice as much. You will need 4 trays total. On the aluminum LS2 Block the LS2 Trays are specific to that block.

See pictures here on the tech side LS1TECH - View Single Post - LS2 lifter tray (retainer) part number?

It would be for an 05 silveado. And the dealer did confirm what you said on the price. $5.86 for one and $9.79 for the retro. From your post I need the $9.79 ones ? I wonder why the dealer parts dept couldn't tell me that

Because technically 05 is a grey area. Just because its an 05 model vehicle doesn't mean the engine was produced in 05 it could have been produced in 04 and could have the LS1 Style.

Unfortunately some the small details weren't recorded very well. There are several small details like that that just have to be matched up. The up side is you can use either style.

If you need gaskets and head bolts Try SDPC for your parts. There a GM dealer and they are sometimes a little cheaper to the general public. I was able to buy a few things cheaper through them and even with the shipping I was still money ahead. There a sponsor on this site.
