L33 or LQ4

I have a 05 silverado that's basically stock. I want to take the L33 and punch it out to basically be an ls1 with a cam. I'm also debating on getting a LQ4 and throwing in a cam and make about the same horsepower, then dropping it in the truck. What are y'alls thoughts on this? Any other suggestions? Thanks guys

I've always heard its way easier to make a lot more horse power with a 6 liter. I'm starting to see that now that i have a lq9. I used to have a lm7. Granted i know the l33 is way sweeter than the lm7, but i've read so many times if you're looking for 400+ rwhp you are better off going to the lq4 or lq9. You'll make 400 way easier with less money and have a stronger engine.

There is no replacement for displacement! I went with a L33, moderate cam, healthy head work, bored 0.020 over, and 10.8:1 compression. It made right at 300/300 on the dyno in 2nd gear. This is with a stock z71 4l65e and 3:73 gears with 32" all terrain tires. I was a little disappointed because i hoped for about 325-340 hp but at the end of the day its not a dyno or track queen, it gets daily driven and runs awesome on the street. With that being said, you can take a 6.0 with a good rebuild, healthy cam and head work and make pretty good power.

I thought it would be really cool to basically have an LS1 running in my truck but the more I think about it I kind of want to do a 6.0 swap plus if I want to make a stupid amount of power later on I can always stroke it for now I'm thinking maybe a LQ4 with flat tops a relatively healthy streetable cam and then maybe some heads down the road after I beef up the trans. Do y'all have any better ideas? I want to stay away from boost

I've heard 400 rwhp is kind of hard to do with a few mods like I want to do. I've been growing on the idea of a 6.0 with flat tops and a cam. Them maybe later on build it to the dagum sky

Why don't you just do a LQ9? Its the high output 6.0 with flat top pistons. Thats what my truck has. Its a 2007 silverado classic vortec max. I got volant cool air intake, longtube headers, and a really awesome tune and it rolls out! I'm probably putting down 320+-? I'm going to do a custom cam and stall. I feel like once its cam'd and re tuned she'll be putting down close if not right at 400 rwhp

I'm getting the first thing I can get honestly. I don't want to wait around for an lq9 when I'm rebuilding it anyway, might as put flat tops in it anyway.

being someone that has had a H/C/I L33 and then a H/C/I LQ4, defanitly go LQ4.
the added torque the 6L produced was amazing over the L33.

Man I really appreciate that. I've almost deffinitly decided on the LQ4 with some mild work done. Maybe a 224r cam or something along those lines, and then heads down the road. I deffinitly want to go with a little higher torque numbers and a good amount of horses under the hood

The 6.0 will be a lot cheaper in the end. You don't need to rebuild it if it's in decent shape. Change your head selection to hit your target compression. Changing Pistons will require a lot of work and it will get much more expensive real fast.
