Yes sir, just because it clicks doesn't mean that the contacts aren't bad...

Ive used three different relays with the same results.

I had some more time to mess with it tonight and a test light. I found the wire that goes hot when the P primes. Its a green wire with a white line. This is the wire that comes out of the bottom of the fuse block under the hood. I popped off the cover and popped it out of the holder so I could get to the bottom of it and just went to town testing wires that werent hot when the key was on. Once I found one that was off I got my buddy to cycle the key to find the one that went hot when the ignition went back on and stayed on for the FP prime sequence and thats how I found the green wire with the white line.

The jumping a wire from the positive post to the prime slot in the fuse panel still makes it come right on so Im at a loss. The pump works fine when it has current sent directly to it, and the wire I found goes hot when its suppose to. Just dont know where it goes to. Its a very small gauge wire so I doubt its carrying all the juice to the pump. Is there another relay somewhere?

Any place I can go to find a wiring diagram of the FP circuit. Im obviously missing something here

So after posting that Ive used 3 different relays I figured WTF why not try it again. So I swapped the factory relay for the replacement again and the bitch fired right up. I let it idle for a minute or so and shut it off. Started it back up and it idled for 2-3 minutes then it slowly died. What do you know, no fuel pressure. I wiggle the relay, pull it out then put it back in, still doesnt start.

I then swap the replacement relay back in(you know the one tha didnt work earlier) it fires right off. Idles till it got to operating temp. I shut it off then start it right back up. Shut it off again then cycled the key on/off 5-6 more times and every time I could hear the FP kick on. So if I wouldve went ahead and started it, it wouldve but right now my truck is open Ypipe and didnt want to be an ******* neighbor.

So I dont know WTF is going on. Seems like a connection issue with the FP relay, so Im going to get some contact cleaner and hose the fuse block under the hood down and hope for the best. We finally sold my wifes old car today so I need to get some wheels that re functional for when I want to go have a few beers and cant take the company truck.

without going through and reading this all over again.....did you replace the FPR? that is exactly what the truck will do with a faulty one.

No I didnt because when it doesnt fire up I can actually hear that the fuel pump isnt coming on, but for ***** and grins I tihnk Ive got another FPR in the garage that Ill swap out just to rule it out. Just seems to me its an electricalproblem since sometimes I can cycle the key 20 times and the FP wont turn on.

If you have an extra change it you laze ******......I am interested to see if this fixes the problem.

Make sure the one you are putting in is good........ other wise your anticipated repair is worthless.

Think with your dipstick Johnny.

it should hold vacuum. do what you are good at, blow into it and see if it leaks.

I would just get a new one, as it would not hurt to eliminate it from the equation.
