I wonder if the ignition switch is at fault?

It it possible to swap the ignition switches between your two trucks and see if the problem moves to the other truck?

yeh i read one thread a while back that ended being an ignition switch. It doesn't make sense though, as you cycle KOEO everything else comes on which leads you to believe the ignition switch is good.

meter the switching wire on the relay. Make yourself a 10' lead test lamp (12v dc of course) so you can test different things from your seat. Put the leads on the coil wires of the relay. If you get a lit lamp when you go KOEO but no pump sound then it's your relay or a loose connection after your relay. If you go KOEO and get no lit lamp then you know it's before the relay.

Excuse my ignorance but how do I know what wire is the switch wire? Coil wires of the relay? How do I make a test lamp?

Ive used three different relays all with the same result, so I dont think its a problem with a relay.

I know, Im a ****** maroon, I dont know electrical **** at all.

you have a nicet, you'll never fool me into believing you are too much of a moron (vs maroon).

goto autoparts store and get a continuity tester. You know they have an alligator clip on one end and a screwdriver looking thing on the other but it has a sharp end. One end of the test hits a positive and the other ends hits the ground.

Put the alligator clip on a ground and then find a way to get the trigger wire of the relay on the other end so that when you go KOEO you can see the tool light up (or not).

In this thread near the end they change subject and talk about fuel pumps..

You can see where Atomic is pointing to the trigger wire. I am ASSUMING he is. I have NEVER bothered with tracing the trigger wire out. KOEO the gray wire should be ******* hot for a few seconds.

You know what, just take a wire from positive and touch that grey wire. That pump should cycle instantly. If it doesn't you have an issue with that wire, pump connections, or the pump itself. If it the pump fires right up then your problem is BEFORE the relay.

Brian trips me out with the FPR, everytime he suggests thats the problem it almost always is. When I first installed my Radix in 2004 he was on the phone with me and suggested to check the FPR. LOL ******. The problem in your scenario IMO is, doesn't matter, the pump should still cycle initially with KOEO, the FPR being bad just may fool you in your troubleshooting when reading pressures.

So I sold my corsa touring exhaust and went to spint he truck around today to make it easier to take it off and of course the mother ****** wont start at all. I turned the key off and on for a good 5 minutes. I can hear the FP relay kick on and then off after teh prime sequence I think. Ive got one of those testers like youre talking about Dew, Ill try and figure out what the deal is with that. Im so ******* tired of the truck its not even funny. Oh and my old harbour freight jack finally took a ****, wont lift the truck up.

Did a jumper wire fromt he postive battery post to the prime slot next to the fuel pump and it comes on just fine. So it seems everything downstream of the relay is good since I believe the prime slot wire is a direct wire to the power wire of the FP. Sunday when I get back in town again Ill mess with the fuse box under the hood. Its got to be something under there is seems. Maybe I was just imagining that the FP relay was kicking on, Ill have to get a buddy of mine to come over and help me one day. I hate electrical problems.

Inspect the relay and the terminals that it plugs into for signs of arching, may be a loose connection...

Well a buddy came by for me to do some logs to send to Kyle and I got him to turn the key for me. The FP relay IS turning on, doing its normal cycle on thing for 3ish seconds then kicking off but the pump isnt kicking on and building any rail pressure. I then did the jumper thing again and it kicked right on and built rail pressure.

So I need to figure out what wire it is coming out of the bottom side of the fuse box that is the power wire to the pump. The trigger wire is obviously working since I can phsyically feel the relay cycling. I may try and jack with it some in the morning before I head out of town. I really want to get my truck back running I kinda miss it
