Intank fuel pump noise?!

Hey guys i was unloading my motorcycle from my truck earlier with the engine running, and i noticed i could hear the fuel pump running.... I just put in a Walbro GSS340 in the truck 2 weeks ago, i don't know if it was making the noise when i put it in. Is this normal????

How much gas was in the tank? When my gauge shows 1/4 tank or less, I can hear the pump plainly. I fill 'er up and the whine disappears. From what I've heard, in general, fuel pumps have their own characteristics: some are noisy and others run quietly.
