I was embarrassed :/ 2wd to 4x4
Ha this is kinda :offtopic: sorta idk but whatever, So i was with my girlfirend and I know this spot which i go to lots of times with her to get our privacy ;)
BTW i'm 17 so i can't just go to my house like all you old fkrs ;P or get a hotel. And well we finish our "Talk" in my RCSB 2000 silverado, and well its like a mini forrest/dirt track so i decide to go play in the dirt, while i'm already driving out going home my girlfriend starts talking and welll...... I didn't pay attention and landed myself into a ditch... -_- I know dumbass :sigh: ...... Haha point is we were stuck for a while untill my brother came in his Duramax for the save :hail::hail::hail: Now reason i couldn't get out on my own was because my front tires were on the ground and my rear tires were in the air lol, if i had 4x4 i could've had a better chance. Now my question is..... HOW MUCH TO MAKE A 2WD 4X4 AND WHAT DO I NEED TO REPLACE :) P.s My girlfriend was just laughing her ass, so now i'm lifting my 2wd 3in and putting 33' Goodyear wranglers, Then hopefully 4x4 conversion, Hey I think it would be cool to launch in 4x4 ;) :drive: |
Save your money and sell the 2wd truck and buy 4x4.

It won't be worth the time/sweat/money/etc to swap. If you want 4wd that bad, go hunt down a new truck. |

It would be easier to put in the awd transfer case and drivetrain you would need to change the output shaft of the trans weld in the brackets for the front dif to mount to and would need of coarse the cv shafts and front propellor shaft. But like all the others said it would prob be cheaper to get a new truck. But hey it's your truck and this is hot rodding no one says it can't be done...

That's right! Forgot the older trucks were torsion 4x4 and coil 2wd... Yeah if it's not a regular thing spend your money else where
|
Oh and figured less wireing with a awd transfer case vs a 2 range selectable t case
|
striaght axle it lol
|
It would be much easier to straight axle swap it then factory 4x4.

Get yourself an older gf with her own place.

:burn::punch::engarde::hmmm::rotflmao::twak:
You assholes. Hahaha jk that made my day :) Sooo about this straight axle idea.... yeahh explain more.... :nunchuk1: |
More trouble then it is worth unless you can get the complete front end out of a AWD or 4wd truck... You should make a note not to fuck in the mud ;)

LOL @ Everything here. Man do i ever remember the day's of running off in the truck when i was 17 (im 21 now), sadly back then i had a 97 K1500 Sierra, and now ive got a 2wd 01 silverado & C5 Vette lol, but also have my own place so that makes things different.
As for 4wd conversion, i looked into converting my 01 into a 4wd, i determined the simplest way to do it was to have a donor 4wd with a good trans, front suspension and frame. Found a few high milage trucks sub $2k, but then i changed my mind on it, and decided to go 4/3 lift with 33's. Maybe look for some new places where you dont need 4wd :secret:  |
I never understand why someone would take a 2wd and lift it and put mud terrains on it. Save your pennies and buy a 4x4. Then you can have much more fun in the dirt without calling big bro to get ya out. :) btw what part of texas are you from?

I'm from south texas, and I just want the look of a 4x4.. and im not going to go crazy on the lift :P I don't plan on doing mudding as we have a 1981 4x4 K10 and mudding usually breaks sht :/
I've seen a couple of lifts on 2wd and they aren't that expensive vs a 4x4. What brands do you recommend for a lift? How much is the Rancho quick lift? |

Don't worry the time will come where you learn to drown her out and actually pay attention to the road. I've been in the ditch, stopped at green lights, blown thru red lights, wrong way down a one way street because I was trying to pay attention to her. You'll smarten up like flicking a light switch somewhere around 20. You'll also develop very well tuned selective hearing.
|
To be honest, get a detroit locker or a truetrac. Put a locker in my 95 Bronco (6" lift, 35's, etc), and never put it in 4wd again because I never needed to, even pulling people out of mud holes in the rain.

Hahaha yeah man i hear ya, :p i think its coming alot faster for me lol

I had a PowerTrax, which just fits inside your open differential and replaces the spider gears (I found it on ebay for a great price and could install it myself since the ring and pinion didn't need to come out). I found it very streetable. But I would go with a TrueTrac if that isn't available for your application, like if you already have a G80 instead of an open diff.

this is what happens when a girl starts talking...
oh boy being that age was awesome but i tell you im lucky to not be in jail from some of my adventures :) my truck never even sees dirt so getting stuck in a ditch is much better than talking to a cop while you have no pants on... now just keep your truck and find a new spot to err... uhh... "talk"! |
Cool ill look into that :) thanks

Plus there's always my room just turn up the surround sound and lock the door and :secret: (start talking). I kinda got tired of trying to lay down in a RCSB  so i bought a air mattress and it fits in the back of my bed perfect lol, i haven't used it since i love hotels but i know one day i probably will, till then its in my tool box :nod::nod:
