Default Hypertech/ Vin# Problem Please help

I have recently sold a Hypertech power programmer. The programmer was used on my 99 GMC 1500 5.3L V8. Before i sold the truck i de-programmed the PCM so i could sell the Hypertech for a little extra cash. The Person who bought the hypertech has a 99 Silverado 5.3L 1500. He says it does not work! Programmer says VIN #'s do not match. What should i do? How do i reset?

I can do it for $40 if you can't find another solution. This assumes there is nothing wrong with it and you still know the VIN of your old truck.

The earlier models would display the VIN of the vehicle programmed so it used to be easier to unlock them. The later models no longer display the VIN of the vehicle, making it a little tougher to unlock.

Programmer is fine shape. I deprogrammed the truck before i sold it. The funny thing is, when i bought the programmer new and my truck, i was going between my truck and my dad's truck. Both were 99's but his was a 2500 with a 6.0L. No problem going back and fourth. The purchaser contacted hypertech and said the serial number was an Early model and they can do nothing with it. If nothing can be done i will just refund the guys money and throw it in the garbage. Yes this programmer displays the Vin#. If you can do something for me that would be great!

It sounds like you did everything right. I've unlocked several Hypertechs from ebay where the seller just sold it not caring that the original tune had not been put back in.

I don't think there is anything I can do for you, sorry.
