Default hows the 206/212 112 idle?

I know the 114 would idle fairly good.. but what about the 112 on a stock tune?

I know in our fbodies 112 was a lil more PITA to get good idle from

would it be the same for the trucks also?

it would idle damn near bone stock i am running a 212/218 currently and you cant tell hardly at all unless the idle drops when its cool or something just bump your idle speed and that shouldnt hardly burble at all and then they would never see it comin

the duration isnt really the problem, its the LSA. 112 is reasonably aggresive, and would have a pretty nice lope in the idle. I have a 114 LSA cam in my truck, and the idle is perfect. It still builds plenty of vacuum, i only had to bump up the IAC a couple of steps to get it to idle well.

wish you people with the 114's would sell them:-p ya'll need bigger cams by now HAHAHHAA

Ill probably just hold out for a 114 cam then.. just saw a 112 for sale on here so i figured I would ask

i have to much stop and go, quick start work.. so idle is a big issue here

personally i think the idle will be pretty close to stock with the 206/212 duration even with the 112 lsa. If not i bet bumping the idle 100rpm will make it smooth, but i still think it will idle pretty close to stock

I'd approach things a bit differently. Personally, I don't think a camshaft swap should be your next mod. Do you ever go w.o.t. thru the gears, seeing as it is a work truck? I'd focus on the power range of idle-4500.

Steps I'd take:
(may be missing something)

1.Gears
2.Stall
3.Intake mods
4.Exhaust mods
5.Mail order tune
6.Cam
7.Retune

That way you aint gotta go with that sissy cam. Step up to at least X-E high lift lobes, or similar. 208/208 .55X 110lsa just for example

For a comparison.... A 206/212 112 will idle better than a 212/218 114

It has 6* less overlap @ advertised and 2* less @ .050

Still, get yourself a tune.... Nelson or someone.
