Where are you guys getting your readings for this top speed? The speedo goes to 100, so you have to have scanner hooked up and you have to be watching the live data from the scanner to get an accurate speed.
Anyone ever read car and driver mag? WTF part of drag limited do you not understand? Every car or truck has a top speed that it can reach in stock form due to the amount of drag. The full size late model truck front end is the same, and the 5.3 liter engine in stock form is DRAG LIMITED to 120 mph. That means no matter how much HP your engine is producing, the amount of FUEL it needs to overcome the drag at 120 MPH can NOT be provided by the stock fuel system. Unless your running meth or NOx, no 138 MPH.
So keep your bullchit at school, cuz unless your running aftermarket fuel injectors and pumps, NONE of you are hitting 138 MPH in your trucks. It can't be done.
And arreguy - that's the biggest BS ever - 128 MPH in a stock 4.8l - LMAO.
Anyone in upstate ny who wants to prove me wrong - come to Rochester and take me for a spin and I'll give you $100 for taking me to 138 MPH with a stock 5.3l fuel system.

well how can we figure this out then, either A im a liar, B my buddys camaro speedo is reading way off, or i can take a pic of my guages at 120 and what rpm im at, which is only 3800 rpm, and then another at almost 6000 rpm. how much more rpm would it take to get over that 130 mark. i did say honestly that the truck was smooth at 120. and then around 5500 it started to wable. for the superchips only going to 128, some say its true, some of you dont, but i do know for a fact it can reach that speed and my fuel didnt cut off. unless the fuel pump and injectors i have are not stock, i dont know, like i said i bought it used, the guy said he had this and this, so who knows. Is there an aftermarket speedo that goes any higher than 120? does a truck that has 35" nittos , not mud tires, but all terrains power brake through third? mine does, believe it or not. ill just say put up the bs flag and thats fine i do the same on some of the other trucks i see on here, but its different when its yours. I got on this sight for the love of the trucks, not to be put down and for somebody to say i tell highschool stories, im a sgt in the marines and just returned from iraq , thats one thing im not is liar. thanks for all your support.

Get us some pics and maybe a video you cant blame everyone for being skeptical. I just dont see how you reach that speed with that kind of lift on my truck it started to scare me at 125 and you are going 13mph faster so I dont know man the only way you are going to shut everyone up is to show hard evidence that you can do it.

I want to see a vid of you power braking ti through third. I hav emuch smaller tires and basically the same mods with a better tune and stall and I cant even get it to spin through second. Ill raise the flag on that one.
Show me a vid of you doing so and Ill eat my words.

Ok - so I lied - I was able to get 122 out of mine today - maybe there was a little tail wind. Either way - the truck still has more power, and it's not hitting the fuel cutoff speed of 128 mph, it's just starving for fuel, and cant build any more speed. I have driven a couple of other 5.3's and they do the same thing - so please - someone prove me wrong and take my $100 .
In the video, you'll see 3 numbers on the laptop - the first is RPM, the next is computed speed - this is computed by the overall gear ratio in OD, and will show higher numbers in lower gears. The last is the actual speed from the VSS - you'll notice how off the stock speedo is on GM vehicles - the faster you go the further off they are. GM always shows speeds FASTER than actual. At 65 MPH on your speedo, you're usually going 62 MPH.
Oh yeah - in the beginning of the clip you will hear a rattle - that's wheel hop at 80 MPH.
A bit later you can see that I allow the tranny to hit OD and it stays at 120 MPH, and wont pull any more. Then you'll see it hit third gear again and it pulls up to 122 and sits there.
At the end, you'll see why I have race brakes all the way around
